Why we built GoFathom

I spent twelve years building software that makes communication simpler for schools. We grew SchoolsBuddy to 500+ schools in 35+ countries before exiting in 2019.

Then I spent five years coaching my son's football and cricket teams and saw the same problem from every side. As a coach, I knew my guidance was half remembered by the next session. As a parent, I rarely knew what was being worked on. And my daughter stepped away from a County Pathway at 14 because she never knew whether she was doing well.

None of that was about talent. It was about guidance that never fully landed.

GoFathom is how we fix it: one shared picture of development that coach, player and parent can all see, so good coaching keeps working long after the session ends.

Our mission

Young players develop and realise their potential when a coach's expertise reaches them, parents are part of the journey, and all three are connected. That is what GoFathom is built to create.

Twelve years building software that solves communication problems in education and sport. Cofounded SchoolsBuddy, grew it to 500+ schools in 35+ countries and exited in 2019. Level 2 ECB cricket coach. Originally from Somerset, now based in Worthing.
