Reflection

Players, in their own words.

Players capture their own reflections on performance and progress, giving coaches a more complete picture and driving more informed development action.

What gets in the way

  • The barrierFeedback only flows one way
    With GoFathom

Reflection requests ask the player to respond in their own words.

  • The barrierPlayers forget the point by next week
    With GoFathom

Their reflection sits beside the coach's feedback on the timeline.

  • The barrierCoaches don't know what landed
    With GoFathom

Coaches read the reflection before the next session.

  • The barrierPlayers won't speak up in front of the squad
    With GoFathom

Reflections are private unless the player chooses to share them with their coaches.

Two ways to reflect

Prompted by feedback

Reflection requests

Ask for a reflection from any feedback post, so the player thinks the feedback through and responds in their own words.

Off their own back

Self-driven reflections

Players can post a reflection whenever they want: after a match, a training session or a breakthrough.

How it works

  1. Coach sends feedback and asks for a reflection

  2. Player answers in their own words

  3. Player chooses who can see it

  4. Coach reads it and adjusts the plan

  5. Players can also capture reflections for themselves, or share them with the coach

What each person sees

  • Player

Writes reflections and decides who sees them.

  • Coach

Reads shared reflections beside their own feedback.

  • Parent

Sees reflections only when the player shares them.

  • Organisation

Sees reflections that need a reply, via Engagement.
